Villa Favorita

ISTAO has been based at Villa Favorita since 1998. It was formerly the Summer residence of a wealthy merchant family from Ancona and was built at the beginning of the XIX century according to a design based on an original interpretation, probably in Vanvitellian style, of the Neo-classical and Palladian architectural heritage.

It has been the location of important historical events. In particular, the 29th September 1860 the surrender agreement was signed at Villa Favorita by the delegates of the Vatican State and those of Pedmont army, following the battle of Castelfidardo. This event sanctioned the annexation of the Marche to the Kingdom of Italy.
